The Happy Ever After Playlist (The Friend Zone #2) (Paperback)
Staff Reviews
I’m typically not much of a rom-com reader. However, during the times of COVID, my reading tastes have leaned toward light and easy distractions. I loved the dual back and forth narration between Sloan and Jason after their hilariously fun meet-cute involving Jason’s dog and international phone calls and texts. Having two narrators for the audiobook brought the characters to life. What really made this story work for me was the substance provided by a realistic portrayal of a woman finally allowing herself to be released from her cocoon of grief and learning how to live again alongside the challenges of dating an up and coming musician. The music side of it also gave it an extra layer of specialness and made it more interesting. Each chapter starts with a song title giving you a sneak peek into what to expect from that chapter along with an actual playlist to create and enjoy. The epilogue was a bit cheesy and tied things up a bit too neatly for me, but it is a romance novel… so, I guess I can’t get too annoyed about that!
— CoriArtist Sloan Monroe just can't seem to get her life on track. But one trouble-making pup who randomly jumps into her car with a "take me home" look in his eyes is about to change everything. With Tucker by her side, Sloan finally starts to feel more like herself. Then, after weeks of unanswered texts, Tucker's owner reaches out. He's a musician on tour in Australia. And bottom line: He wants Tucker back.
Well, Sloan's not about to give up her dog without a fight. But what if this Jason guy really loves Tucker? As their flirty texts turn into long calls, Sloan can't deny a connection. Jason is hot and nice and funny. There's no telling what could happen when they meet in person. The question is: With his music career on the rise, how long will Jason really stick around? And is it possible for Sloan to survive another heartbreak?
