Last book you loved:
There There by Tommy Orange
Where are you originally from?
What is the best part of your job?
Matching people with the perfect book for them and having them come back to tell me they loved it.
When you’re not reading what do you like to do in your free time?
I’d like to say hammocking but I really love building community - so I spend a lot of time going to literary events around town and listening to people read. I also write a ton, as an aspiring author and MFA student.
What is your favorite book to give as a gift?
I like to give away “Art of” books (a series by Graywolf) because they’re insanely helpful to struggling writers.
What is your favorite opening or closing line of a book?
“All of this happened, more or less.” - Slaughterhouse Five, Kurt Vonnegut.
What is the best advice you ever received from a book or author?
“The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease for ever to be able to do it.” - J.M Barrie, Peter Pan
What is the best “worst” book you have ever read?
Oh man - I really hated The Golden Notebook by Doris Lessing because I’m incredibly impatient and this book is so long and British! But it takes on a lot of topics that were taboo at the time when it was published…it’s just very loooong.
