Event Ticketing Guidelines 2023

Starting April 1st, 2023, we are updating our ticketing process for events. This decision has been made to address logistical obstacles our team has faced as interest and attendance in our events continues to grow. April 1st also marks about a year since our return to regular event programming and we are so glad to be able to continue serving the community in this way.

You can check all upcoming events on our website event calendar. Please note all future events will either be free or ticketed.


Free Events

"This event is free and open to the public."

It remains our mission to bring accessible literary programs to the community. As such, the majority of our events will be free and NOT ticketed. For all free events, RSVP is not required but is encouraged via the event's Facebook page.


Ticketed Events

"Ticket purchase required."

For events where we expect a high turnout (possibly necessitating store closure), a ticket purchase will be required for attendance. Please note that we use Eventbrite as our ticketing platform. There are small fees associated with ticket purchases made through this site. You can follow us or check our ticketed event listings here.

We currently have two options for ticketed events:

  • BUY A BOOK for admission and a guaranteed signed copy of the event book.
  • BUY A TICKET for admission but not a guaranteed copy of the event book (limited to stock on hand for signed copies). The $5 ticket then becomes a $5 coupon towards a future purchase.

Some events will be limited to BOOK PURCHASE ONLY as we expect tremendous turn out.

Please note that buying a book for admission to an event doesn't just support the bookshop, it supports the author!



Q: Can I bring a plus one to a ticketed event?

A: As of this time, no. Any attendee will need to purchase a $5 ticket or a book for ticketed events.

Q: What if I already bought the author's book from Bright Side Bookshop?

A: Email events@brightsidebookshop.com. After we verify proof of purchase, and so long as the event is not full, we will be able to add you to the guest list.

Q: What if I already bought the author's book elsewhere?

A: You will still have to purchase a ticket.

Q: What if I can't make it to the event but still want a signed book?

A: Place your book order through our website! At check out, include the following note: "I would like this book to be signed by the author during their event," as well as your desired signature message.
